I ink you have to consider some degree of pay cut.... But bear in mind the living cost, tax are way lower in HK. Hope that helps

tax is lower, but living expenses are much higher... with the reduction in salary, it makes it almost not worth working here as an expat unless you have housing allowance (which I assume you won't have)

It quite depends on what kind of skill you have additional to programming. You know, coding is just liked writing skill and more important is what context you are professional at.  You can get decent pay if you know how to develop high frequency trading mechanism or trading modeling for Investment Bank.

Otherwise, you may want to stay at US where is more respecting programmers than HK in general.
