I only have one Dx lens, the 18-200mm zoom. If you use a Dx lens on Fx camera, only the centre of the frame is used. On my D700, it only resulted in a 5MP area, which is waste of time. On the D800, it would be like the D7000 with 16MP. Better, but still no point in doing so beside trying for fun. Tried it once, at 18mm you see a dark frame and a centre circle of image. Felt weird.
It appears that Fx body is becoming the normal, afforable format. It may be better to spend the money toward a 24-70mm f2.8. It is a very nice lens.
At least in Nikon it is still possible to mount the Dx lens on Fx body. Canon's EF-S lens cannot be mounted on their full frame body. |
